Our Design Process

Based on the information gathered during the consultation, we will prepare a preliminary lighting design that will best meet your needs. We may have to gather additional information, such as an inventory of existing trees, to complete a design. At this stage of the process the designer will select:
  • Type of lamps
  • Light levels
  • Fixture locations
  • Light color
  • Light distribution

Based on the preliminary design, we will prepare a preliminary estimate. If that estimate exceeds the stated budget, we will prepare a scaled-back design that best meets your needs, while staying within your budget.

We then meet with you to present the preliminary lighting designs. At this point, you will have the option to implement the full lighting design immediately or in phases, implement the scaled-back version of the design, or implement some other version based on our discussions. Depending on the project, we may want to schedule a private night demonstration on your property so that you can see how the lights and fixtures will illuminate your property.

Once a design is chosen, we will prepare various formal design documents. The number of documents depends on the size and scope of the project but will always include:

  • Fixture location spreadsheet
  • Fixture location photo or drawing
  • Wiring plan
These documents will be used during the installation of your lighting project and will be included in your owner’s package.
